The trumpeter swan’s 30-year comeback story continues in 2020 as Wisconsin partners with other states to better understand its migration and habitat. Wisconsin DNR, Great Lakes Indian Fish & Wildlife Commission (GLIFWC) and partners in other western Great Lakes states and Ontario, Canada corralled trumpeter swans this summer and outfitted dozens of them with GPS transmitters. The neck collars record the birds’ location every 15 minutes and show where they stop to rest and fuel up during their mi
