This week the NHL and ESPN announced a seven year broadcast and streaming deal, the first time that NHL games will air on the largest sports network (as well as ABC) in the United States since 2004. Synonymous with ESPN hockey coverage is Gary Thorne's play by play. He most recently was the Baltimore Orioles Television Announcer from 2007 through last season, and he's expressed interest in returning to do hockey games.
