As the black diaspora grows in America, I’ve seen interesting conflations happen with how people refer to mixed people. Mixed people are not light skins they are biracial individuals. Light skinned people are black Americans that are fully black (monoracial) and just happen to have a light skin tone. There are historical and hereditary reasons to make these distinctions and completing the two groups is erasing the history that created the American Society we know today. #history #africanamerican
