Racing Bulls has announced Alan Permane will replace the Red Bull-bound Laurent Mekies as team principal with immediate effect, following Christian Horner’s firing.

After leaving Toro Rosso in 2014, Mekies took up a role within the FIA as safety director before moving into a position as F1’s deputy race director in 2017. One year later, he had been poached by Ferrari, serving as sporting director before an internal promotion to racing director.

Horner, husband to former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell-Horner, has been fired over a year after being cleared of inappropriate behavior following an investigation over allegations made against him by a female colleague.
