So far, more or less, each book corresponds to a season of the Starz series. Season 1 is Outlander, season 2 is Dragonfly in Amber, and so on. Season 7, part 2 is airing right now, and one of the last episodes of this season is named " Written in My Heart's Own Blood ," which implies that we might start to get season 8 plots.

E ver since Outlander came out in 2014, fans have known that they can look to Diana Gabaldon‘s best-selling novels to find out what happens next. Can the same be said for Outlander: Blood of My Blood? Starz‘s new Outlander prequel is set in the same world as the Outlander series, so is it based on a book, too?

“Blood of My Blood” tells the love story of Jamie’s parents, Ellen and Brian, and Claire’s parents, Julia and Henry. The characters are inspired by the stories of Diana Gabaldon but there are no novels for showrunner Matthew B. Roberts to follow. He also is the showrunner of the original series, which debuts its final season early next year.
