Chinese start-up DeepSeek introduced an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot that quickly became the most downloaded free mobile application in the U.S. Importantly, the base large language model behind the DeepSeek application allegedly cost $6 million to train and reportedly outperforms top U.

Nvidia stock was rising early Friday. A solid week for the artificial-intelligence chip maker is coming to a close. As of Thursday’s close, the stock was up 4% over the past four days, recouping a good chunk of its losses from the previous week when excitement about Chinese start-up DeepSeek sparked a brutal selloff.

Nvidia has got much-needed ratification after a trio of big tech leaders showed they were unfazed by DeepSeek and disclosed plans to increase their spending on artificial intelligence technologies. Nvidia stock rose on Friday.
