A strong earthquake has been recorded between the Greek islands of Amorgos and Santorini, after days of consecutive tremors in the area. More than 11,000 people have already left Santorini with around 7,000 departing by ferry and 4,000 people leaving by air.

Authorities have halted construction, closed schools, and ordered pools to be emptied as people flee Santorini amid ongoing seismic activity.

The Greek island has experienced ongoing tremors for six consecutive days, prompting the evacuation of around 10,000 people via ferries and planes.

Mitsotakis's remarks come as many people in Santorini spent Sunday night outdoors, amid fears of potential damage to buildings during the quakes. Some focal points of the tremors have been recorded at a depth of just 2km (1.2miles) below the surface.
