With less than two weeks left in his presidency, President Joe Biden designated two new national monuments in the West. Biden signed proclamations Tuesday creating the Chuckwalla National Monument and the Sáttítla Highlands National Monument,

The White House says President Joe Biden will establish two new national monuments in California that will honor Native American tribes.

Biden has federally protected 1,053,125 square miles of land and ocean in his term — an area nearly four times the size of Texas.
