President Donald Trump signed an executive order the White House says is aimed at "lowering drug prices and stopping foreign free-riding on American pharmaceutical innovation."

President Trump signed an executive order setting a 30-day deadline for drug companies to lower prices on prescription drugs.

President Trump will hold a press conference Monday morning with Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to announce an executive order to cap prescription drug and pharmaceutical prices at the lowest cost offered in any other country.

The order is based on a "most favored nation" pricing model, which is similar to a policy Trump pushed in his first administration.

The editorial board of the Wall Street Journal is criticizing President Trump over an executive order expanding drug price controls. “For that trade we could have elected Democrats,”
