Bowman wrecked out in a multi-car pileup on Lap 27, one which claimed the cars of Bubba Wallace, Austin Cindric and Ricky Stenhouse Jr., among others. He struck the outside wall near the frontstretch tri-oval, came to a halt along the backstretch, and was towed into the garage area. The damage proved to great to repair, and Bowman finished 36th.

With Ryan Blaney winning last night at Daytona, Alex Bowman remains in the NASCAR Playoffs by just inches, really. Bowman could have easily been kicked from the 16-driver field, but Blaney’s last-lap pass for the lead proved beneficial for the 48 team.
