Vladimir Putin is open to peace after Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky suggested fresh ceasefire talks, Moscow said. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said the Russian president was ready to negotiate, but that Russia remained committed to “achieving its goals”.
This setback follows Putin's call for direct talks between Russia and Ukraine "without pre-conditions." Mr. Zelensky said he would attend in person and expected the Russian president to do the same.
Ukraine faced another Russian drone and missile attack early Monday, with air raid alerts sounding across the country for at least six hours since midnight Kyiv time.
