As many as 350 Louisiana National Guard troops are being deployed to New Orleans by President Trump during New Year's, Sugar Bowl and Mardi Gras.
The Trump administration has deployed the National Guard to a group of large metropolitan cities, though some deployments have been blocked by federal judges.
The Guard members will stay through Carnival season, when residents and tourists descend on the Big Easy to partake in costumed celebrations and massive parades before ending with Mardi Gras.
New Orleans had missed the deadline for bidding on the opportunity to host the 2031 Super Bowl, due to an unresolved lease situation.
