Winter storm to cause travel issues this weekend in Plains, then rain for southern New England
On Sunday, the storm will shift northeast and approach New England in a much weaker form. Light snow showers will be possible in the higher elevations of northern New England, but this storm will be mainly a rain-maker locally, where up to half an inch of rain is expected.
The FOX43 Weather Impact Team takes a look at how much snow could fall across the region this winter and grade their predictions from last winter.
According to Climate Central, average winter temperatures across 239 U.S. cities have warmed 3.9 °F since 1970. In Grand Rapids specifically, winters have warmed by 5.5°F, and we now average 21 more warmer-than-normal winter days than in the early 1970s.

Wisconsin winter: Cold, snowy winter stretches during weak La Niña
A weak La Niña and a wavy jet stream could make mid-winter colder and stormier than recent years in Wisconsin.
Each winter, the Binghamton area sees an average of 18.1 inches of snow in December, 20.6 inches in January, 19.7 inches in February and 16.4 inches in March. According to Lardeo, storms may bring more snow to the area, but the National Weather Service does not have information regarding the possibility of storms in the winter season.
