STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — New York City is forecast to receive anywhere between two and four inches of snow by Sunday afternoon. Staten Island itself is expected to receive anywhere between three and four inches. But just when will the heaviest snow come down?
On Wednesday at 9:48 a.m. the National Weather Service released an updated winter storm watch valid from Thursday 1 a.m. until Friday 7 a.m. for Onondaga, Madison and Oneida counties.

Winter storm brings mix of snow and rain to parts of NY, NJ
Warren County, New Jersey, along with Berks, Lehigh and Northampton counties in Pennsylvania, remains under an advisory until 1 p.m., with 1 to 3 inches of snow, up to 4 inches in elevated terrain, and minor icing anticipated.
And while snow may begin to fall on the city as early as 7 p.m. Saturday, the steadiest snowfall is expected to come down in the overnight hours. At some point before 10 a.m. Sunday, snowfall rates are likely to reach half an inch per hour before 10 a.m. Sunday, according to the weather service.
Millions of Americans living on the East Coast could see their first accumulating snowfall of the season this week.
