The Los Angeles Lakers continue their West Coast swing Friday night in Boston with an old-time NBA rivalry matchup with Jaylen Brown and the Celtics.

LeBron James isn't expected to play against the Celtics while the Lakers will also be without Luka Doncic and Marcus Smart.

LeBron James and Luka Doncic are both out for the Los Angeles Lakers' matchup with the Boston Celtics on Friday night. James is sitting with sciatica, which kept him sidelined for the first 14 games this season,

Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James will miss his 16th game of the season on Friday at the Boston Celtics with right sciatica and left foot joint arthritis.

The Celtics will be finishing out a tough five games in seven nights stretch on Friday but will do so against a shorthanded Lakers squad. Luka Doncic (personal) and Marcus Smart (back) were declared out for the matchup this afternoon. Smart has not played since Nov. 25 due to the injury.

Doncic has not played in Toronto since Dec. 7, 2024, while he was still a member of the Dallas Mavericks. The Lakers will play the Raptors in Toronto at 7:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, Dec. 4. The game will air on Spectrum SportsNet (Los Angeles) and SportsNet (Toronto).
