Prepare for a total lunar eclipse
Digest more
Lunar eclipses occur when our planet slides between the sun and moon, which temporarily prevents the sun’s light from falling on the lunar surface. A total lunar eclipse is the most dramatic, and is often referred to as a blood moon.
A total lunar eclipse will occur on 3 March, allowing over 40% of the world's population to witness the event. The Moon will appear red during this phenomenon, known as 'blood moon.' It will be the last total lunar eclipse until late 2028.
