Sinners” has generated an estimated $45 million at the box office, up from original projections of $40 million after an influx of moviegoers went to see the Ryan Coogler-directed film Saturday.

“Sinners,” which director Ryan Coogler filmed using Imax cameras, has been a force on premium screens. In Imax alone, the movie has added $12.3 million worldwide over the weekend, boosting its overall tally to $20.6 million. Those ticket sales represent 19% of the film’s overall gross.

Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners,” led by twin Michael B. Jordans, launched with $45.6 million in ticket sales in U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to studio estimates.
