The state memorial service is to be held at the Missouri Capitol Rotunda. Officials say the public is welcome to attend. Governor Bond will lie in state inside the Capitol Rotunda for 24 hours following the state memorial service, where the general public is welcome to come and pay their respects during that time as well.
Former Missouri governor and U.S. Sen. Christopher “Kit” Bond died today at the age of 86. He was the youngest governor in Missouri’s history, taking office at 33.
"Kit Bond was a skilled statesman, public servant, and a man who truly loved Missouri," Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe wrote.
