President Donald Trump said on Tuesday he planned to start "phasing out" the Federal Emergency Management Agency after the hurricane season and that states would receive less federal aid to respond to natural disasters.

MACON, Ga. — The 2025 hurricane season began on June 1st for the Atlantic, and has so far been off to a quiet start. The National Hurricane Center has only watched one area of potential development off of the eastern coast of the United States, and this region did not come to fruition.

Every county was evaluated with a FEMA-designated Hurricane Risk Score out of 100 for each category and overall ranking. The overall score of each county is the average of its score across all metrics. West Coast counties were excluded from this study as FEMA doesn’t provide hurricane risk scores for the Eastern Pacific Basin.

With the hurricane season now underway, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) is continuing the trend from last year by predicting another above-average Atlantic hurricane season.

However, just because an invest is identified does not necessarily mean the system will become a tropical depression or storm.

The Carnival Panorama was rerouted due to two tropical systems that developed on the West Coast of North America. After sailing from Long Beach on June 7, the Carnival Cruise Line vessel is currently offering a seven-night cruise to the Mexican Riviera.

Tropical activity remains quiet in the Atlantic basin, although there have already been three named storms in the eastern Pacific.
