The 2026 Eta Aquariid meteor shower is to hit its peaks tonight and light up the sky with shooting stars and fireballs as Earth travels through the Halley's Comet debris stream.

Canadians willing to stay up late, or wake up early, could catch a glimpse of shooting stars Tuesday night and Wednesday morning as the Eta Aquariid meteor shower reaches its peak.

"On a normal night a meteor can come from any area of the sky. But a meteor shower such as the Perseids all seem to emanate from the constellation Perseus, which is in the northeast sky," Boyle said.
