OMAHA, Neb. – Travelers in Omaha, Nebraska, encountered an unusual scene on the road: a gaping hole in the ground. The Omaha Police Department captured the shocking scene of two vehicles found almost buried in a sinkhole.

Another sinkhole opened along Route 772 just a few houses from the massive collapse that shut down the road for more than a week.

CCTV footage captured the moment a sinkhole formed suddenly in Omaha, Nebraska, and swallowed two cars stopped at a red light. Omaha Police said the two drivers were able to get out of their vehicles by the time emergency crews arrived.

Sinkholes aren't an uncommon occurrence in Shanghai, as it's built in the Yangtze River Delta

A huge sinkhole opened up in China, swallowing a large section of roadway near a Shanghai construction site. CCTV footage from Wednesday (11 February) shows vehicles, motorcycles, and street lamps getting sucked down into the hole as workers scramble to safety.

Surrey County Council has said that the £3m repair works will not be complete until the spring.
