SANTEE — Upgrades to campsites and infrastructure at Santee State Park are expected to begin this winter.

A recreational vehicle park resort, retail stores and single-family homes are planned near the Santee State Park.

The couple says a campsite would be especially helpful to those passing through, waiting for their spots to open at the Santee State Park campgrounds.

Discover Santee State Park, which sits on the edge of South Carolina's biggest lake, Lake Marion, and contains more than 10 miles of trails, RVs and campsites.

It will include a community center with meeting rooms, a fitness center, pool, walking trails leading to Santee State Park, a community boat ramp and dock, boat storage, and more.
