Riu Hotels, one of the big players in Mexico's tourism scene, has snapped up a piece of land in Mazatlán to build a brand-new hotel with a whopping 700 rooms.

The 740-suite, all-inclusive Hotel Riu Mazatlan, opening in May 2009 as Riu's 15th resort in Mexico, will feature three restaurants, five bars and three conference rooms.
