Rangers beat Panthers 5-1 in first outdoor hockey game in Miami. Mika Zibanejad has hat trick
There was snow. There was fire. And after years of planning, there was hockey on a baseball field in Miami. The Florida Panthers and New York Rangers dropped the puck Friday night in the 44th outdoor game in NHL history.
While he is far from the only forward whom the team needs more from, he has had a long run of top six and power-play opportunities so far this season.
After the Calgary Flames traded Tkachuk to the Panthers in the summer of 2022, he instantly changed the fortunes of the franchise. Florida has reached the Stanley Cup Final in each season with him on the roster, and Tkachuk has 88 goals and 166 assists in 211 games. In the postseason, Tkachuk has 25 goals and 69 points in 67 games.
New York’s Braden Schneider scored off the rush at 18:16, leading Rangers coach Mike Sullivan to pull Quick for an extra attacker. That’s when Wilson finished the Gordie Howe hat trick, feeding Sourdif for his second goal of the game in the final minute.
It counted as the Rangers’ third loss in a row. Despite a two-point performance from Adam Fox in his return to the lineup, the Rangers let the Caps blow the game open in the third period. Just as one injury concern went away, however, two more popped up. Both Noah Laba and Conor Sheary exited the game in the second period with an injury.
