WASHINGTON -- Logan Thompson made 27 saves, including 16 in the third period, and the Washington Capitals defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 3-1 in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Second Round at Capital One Arena on Thursday.

The Washington Capitals tied their second-round series against the Carolina Hurricanes with a 3-1 win in Game 2 on Thursday, thanks to a standout performance from Tom Wilson. The veteran forward had a primary assist on the game-winning power-play goal by John Carlson and added an empty-netter to seal the result.

The Carolina Hurricanes did what they had to do to swing home-ice advantage in their favor through two games, but fell in Game 2 against the Washington Capitals.
