Around 170 million Americans from Nebraska to the Northeast are experiencing extremely warm temperatures due to an ongoing heat wave.

July will make a potentially record-breaking exit this week as a heat dome will create triple-digit feels-like temperatures for millions from Florida to Virginia, prompting heat alerts across the East Coast.

The heat dome is expected to hit Delaware later in the week, allowing the First State to experience some cooler temperatures, according to the National Weather Service. Highs for the state through Wednesday will sit in the 80s, with lows at night dropping into the low 60s.
